The AGM of the Winnipeg Urban Chicken Association is going to be a community learning, sharing and hangout!
Join us on Sunday, March 10 at 7 pm. Hollow Reed Wholistic at 761 Westminster Avenue has graciously donated space. Features:
- Learn about your Winnipeg Urban Chicken Association
- How your City Council is blocking this sustainability initative
- What you can do about it and why, in 3 easy steps
- Facts about the 150+ municipalities who allow chickens
A free membership is required to attend this part of the evening. Then we have public speakers and fun!
8 pm: “Ten Steps to Healthy, Happy Chickens!” Louise May, Winnipeg’s own “Chicken Lady”, owns and operates Aurora Farm. She’ll give a brief introduction to the rewarding hobby of urban henkeeping.
8.15 pm: “Hens, Humans and Health” Dr. Philippe Lagacé-Wiens (U of M medical faculty and microbiologist at St. Boniface Hospital) cuts through the health hysteria and hyperbole to give a no-nonsense perspective.
8.30 pm Social get-together! Please feel free to bring a potluck snack to nosh on while you get to know your neighbours who are also interested in urban sustainability initiatives.
We hope to see you there!
